Champlain Township teen, two others, killed in head-on collision near Cornwall

The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) is investigating a case of arson in Clarence-Rockland that destroyed a vehicle.

Three people were killed in a head-on collision Thursday night, March 14, in a head-on collision east of Cornwall, including a 16-year-old girl from Champlain Township.

According to Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), the driver of an eastbound car on County Road 2 crossed over to the westbound lanes, causing other drivers to swerve out of the way. Two vehicles then crashed head-on and one caught on fire.

The driver of the eastbound car was pronounced dead at the scene, as well as the driver and a passenger of a westbound vehicle. A second passenger of that vehicle, a 16-year-old boy from Cornwall, was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries.

A 44-year-old man from Ottawa and a 65-year-old woman from Cornwall died in the collision along with the teen from Champlain Township.

A section of County Road 2 was closed overnight as police conducted their investigation and has since reopened.
