Assault on Ste. Marie Road leads to charges in Russell Township

Ontario Provincial Police responded to a serious assault on Ste. Marie Road in the Township of Russell on the evening of Saturday, July 19. One person was transported to hospital and a suspect was taken into custody.

A 55-year-old resident of the Township of Russell is facing serious charges following an assault that occurred on Ste. Marie Road over the weekend. 

On Saturday, July 19, 2025, just before 9:30 p.m., officers with the Russell County Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) responded to a report of an altercation at a residence. Upon arrival, police found a male victim suffering from multiple puncture wounds to the neck.  

Prescott-Russell paramedics transported the victim to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  

Officers arrested an individual at the scene and transported them to the local detachment for processing.  

Following an investigation, police have charged Tracey Hudlin, 55, of the Township of Russell, with aggravated assault and mischief for destroying or damaging property.  

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing, which took place before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. 

The OPP have not released further details, citing the ongoing nature of the investigation.
