Big bucks for Prescott-Russell infrastructure aid
All eight municipalities and the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR) are getting money this year from the Ontario Community Infrastructure Fund (OCIF). The Ontario Ministry of Infrastructure announced, January 20, OCIF funding allocations for all of Eastern Ontario.

Regional ambulance services need better dispatch system, says report
The Eastern Ontario Wardens’ Caucus (EOWC), which represents the 11 counties in the region, along with the cities of Ottawa and Cornwall, completed its in-depth review of ambulance service and paramedic services in the region. Marc-André Périard, director of emergency services for the United Counties of Prescott and Russell (UCPR), summarized the results of the report for the eight mayors on UCPR council during their Wednesday committee of the whole session.

Will the City be ready if there is another flood?
“We hope we don’t get another one,” said Mayor Guy Desjardins during an interview January 10, but he noted that city staff and residents have learned some valuable lessons the hard way from the 2017 and 2019 spring floods. “We, at the City, are now looking closely at the location of flood areas,” said the mayor. “We are trying to discourage people from building in floodplain areas, especially now that we have proof that there is a problem.”
