Nouveaux arbres à Hawkesbury

La Commission de la Zone d’amélioration commerciale de Hawkesbury (COMZAC) prévoit investir 1000 dollars dans le remplacement de certains arbres le long de la rue Main, entre les intersections des rues Race et Atlantic. La COMZAC a fait cette proposition dans une lettre au conseil municipal de Hawkesbury. La ville s’occupera de la plantation des arbres de remplacement et la COMZAC fournira des fonds pour les dépenses dans son budget 2021. – Gregg Chamberlain

Grenville-sur-la-Rouge, gagnante d’un concours pour une forêt nourricière

Grenville-sur-la-Rouge a été sélectionné parmi quatre finalistes comme gagnant d’un concours pour l’établissement d’une forêt nourricière. La compagnie Fruit d’Or, située à Villeroy, dans la région du Centre-du-Québec (Bois-Francs), spécialisée dans la culture biologique de canneberges et de bleuets et dans la production de produits transformés est à l’origine du concours. La forêt nourricière sera un ensemble d’arbres, arbustes et de plantes comestibles qui sera aménagé non loin de la mairie. Selon Marie-Ève Essiambre, de la compagnie Fruit d’Or, le concours visait à offrir un prix qui serait utile et qui perdurerait dans le temps. L’initiative se situe dans le cadre des valeurs de cette entreprise travaillant dans le secteur biologique depuis 1995. La valeur de la forêt nourricière gagnée par la municipalité de Grenville-sur-la-Rouge est de 6500 $.  —Patrick Hacikyan  

Nouveau poste de transformation pour la MRC d’Argenteuil

De nombreuses opérations policières se tiendront du 18 au 24 septembre 2020 sur l’ensemble du territoire du Québec afin d’intervenir auprès des conducteurs distraits par l’utilisation d’un cellulaire, d’un appareil électronique portatif ou d’un écran d’affichage.

Selon un communiqué émis par la Sûreté du Québec, la distraction au volant réduit l’attention et la concentration du conducteur et augmente les risques d’être impliqué dans une collision. Ce comportement accroit aussi les risques de commettre d’autres infractions au Code de la sécurité routière, car les yeux quittent la route le temps d’un instant.

Toujours selon le communiqué, la distraction au volant est l’une des principales causes de collisions mortelles ou avec blessures graves au Québec. Texter en conduisant à une vitesse de 90 km/h équivaut à traverser un terrain de football les yeux fermés. 

Un conducteur distrait pourrait ne pas voir jusqu’à 50 % de l’information présente dans son environnement. Il regarde sans voir ce qui se passe. C’est comme conduire les yeux bandés, ou semi-bandés.
