Plantagenet crash victim identified
Edward Ivanov died at the scene of the crash, which happened just west of County Road 9 near the École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet shortly after 8 a.m. The 35-year-old was alone in his vehicle at the time of the crash.

One dead, four injured in Plantagenet crash
The Hawkesbury detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) are investigating the crash, which happened near the École secondaire catholique de Plantagenet shortly after 8 a.m. One of the drivers, who was alone in their vehicle, died at the scene. The age and identity of the deceased has not yet been released.

Eastern Ontario to move to ‘orange’ zone
The province tightened the thresholds for each restriction level on Friday after the government’s model was criticised as too lenient. The maximum weekly incidence rate in the yellow “protect” zone, in which the Eastern Ontario Health Unit (EOHU) had previously been placed, was lowered from 39.9 cases per 100,000 to 24.9 per 100,000.

Updated modeling released on Thursday afternoon warned that Ontario risked exceeding case numbers in multiple European cities currently under some form of lockdown if growth reached 5 percent. Champlain Township’s Committee of the Whole voted last week to approve the hiring of a lifeguard to supervise swimmers each day between June 27 and August 30 next year. The vote, however, was not unanimous, after some councillors expressed concern that more complaints had been made about safety issues on the sand, rather than in the water.
